Sunrise

What a beautiful way to start the day, this is the first thing I saw when I looked out the window this morning. The picture doesn't do the colours justice.

Had a lovely weekend, eldest daughter came home for a couple of days. The last time she came to stay was Christmas. We don't get to see as much of her as we'd like.

After she left on Sunday, the boss and I went to the nursery to get some seedlings for the vegetable garden and some potting mix.

We gave my Mum some African Violets for her birthday in January and while I was wrapping them a leaf came off. I've had it sitting in a glass of water since then and it has finally struck. The next step is to see if I can get it to grow in the potting mix. Wish me luck......I don't really have a green thumb!!

Holidays

It's ages since I last posted. We went away for a few days last month, the weather was great and we spent lots of time walking on the beach.

We always seem to end up staying by the ocean or a river whenever we have a break.

These pictures were taken in Port McDonnell (sp?) in SA, Port Fairy and Lorne in Vic.

We had great weather for nearly all of our trip.

ATC's and Postcards

Pictured here are the ATC's and postcards I received from the recent swaps I've participated in. It's great to see the different styles and ideas that everyone has used.

Mothers & Melanoma

I can't believe that it's so long since I last wrote anything. Plenty going on at present.

Today my Mum was in hospital to have more moles removed. She also had more removed from the site of the first mole on her arm, plastic surgery and from what I can gather she also had some lymph nodes removed from under her arm.

She wasn't able to tell me much tonight as she hadn't seen the doctor. I do know that she was expected to spend the night in hospital but she can be a stubborn old bird at times. We'll be going down to see her on Sunday.

It is also my youngest nieces 3rd birthday party on Sunday. Tomorrow I'm going to make up some 'baby' blankets for her dolls. She keeps borrowing her Mum's towels to wrap them in.

Hope to post some pics tomorrow of the ATC's and postcards I received in a recent swap.

Mushrooms

After the recent rain we thought there might be a few mushrooms about, so off we went for a walk over the paddocks. I'm surprised at how quickly the grass has come on since the cattle have been taken off.

We struck it lucky and came home with a plastic supermarket bag full, guess what we had for lunch???
I took the camera along so I could take some pics of the countryside.

Japanese Bargello

As you can see I've actually been doing something with my time this week. This quilt top has been made from an assortment of Japanese fabrics. I'd like to take the credit for all of it but have been working with a friend to get the top done. She supplied all the fabric for the top and did the cutting. I get to supply the wadding, backing and get to quilt it as well. We're making this one to sell, that's why it's a joint effort. The quilt will measure 60" square when finished.

We've had some lovely rain during the week, all our tanks are full and the grass is starting to green up.

The crows and currawongs are into the fruit trees, making an awful noise as well as a mess. The possums have eaten all the peaches.....again!! We really should net the trees if we want to pick the fruit.

Postcards

I've been keeping myself occupied this week making postcards for a swap. The theme is 'Your Area.' Well, I live in the country and there are lots of cows and wineries around the area.

When I posted the first card off yesterday, the lady in the PO was so taken with the postcards that she asked me to make one for her either with a cow or a cat to send to a friend.

Decided on a cat theme and I'm pleased with how it turned out.
