Japanese Bargello

As you can see I've actually been doing something with my time this week. This quilt top has been made from an assortment of Japanese fabrics. I'd like to take the credit for all of it but have been working with a friend to get the top done. She supplied all the fabric for the top and did the cutting. I get to supply the wadding, backing and get to quilt it as well. We're making this one to sell, that's why it's a joint effort. The quilt will measure 60" square when finished.

We've had some lovely rain during the week, all our tanks are full and the grass is starting to green up.

The crows and currawongs are into the fruit trees, making an awful noise as well as a mess. The possums have eaten all the peaches.....again!! We really should net the trees if we want to pick the fruit.

Postcards

I've been keeping myself occupied this week making postcards for a swap. The theme is 'Your Area.' Well, I live in the country and there are lots of cows and wineries around the area.

When I posted the first card off yesterday, the lady in the PO was so taken with the postcards that she asked me to make one for her either with a cow or a cat to send to a friend.

Decided on a cat theme and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Long Weekend

We've just had a 3 day weekend here in Vic. The Man of the House decided he had things to do on Saturday and Sunday so I spent the time playing in the stash and trying to get motivated to make some fabric postcards.

Today we went out to lunch and to do a bit of shopping. He had to go to Bunnings and more importantly I had to go to Spotlight as they were having a 20% off everything sale. It was so busy that I just grabbed some white homespun, 5 metres to be precise. I had wanted to look at some sheers to make curtains for the lounge and spare bedroom but gave up that idea when I saw how many people were poking around.

Might just have to do some dyeing on Wednesday, sewing group tomorrow so I can't do it then.

Bit down in the dumps tonight as we think that we will have to have our dog put down tomorrow, he is in some pain and there isn't much they can do for him. Not sure how or when to tell the girls, they will be devastated.

More Dyeing & Socks

I have been having another play around with dyeing this week, using the colours red, yellow and blue. I used unwashed damask to make the 2 purples, orange and green below. Doesn't show very well in the pictures but they have a lovely embossed rose pattern on them.

Another pair of socks finished, these were knitted from alpaca, merino and mohair blend of wool. They are naturally coloured. Should be lovely and warm in winter.
