Scatterdays - Letter D

This week we have the dastardly letter D, it has been a challenge and fun trying to come up with the required photos.

Something Humorous, Feet, Furniture and A Quilty Dispaly.

Something Humorous:

My son-in-law Dean dressed as 'Paulie' from the movie Juno. Daughter was 8 months pregnant at the time and went as Juno. I'm not allowed to show her photo here and had to hide Dean's face.

Feet:

Duck feet  can be used for many different things - walking, swimming and eating!

I have to thank our friend  Google for these pictures.

 Furniture:

Drawers from my lovely Singer Treadle Machine. This is one of the first gifts my husband gave me after we were married.

A Quilty Display :

This first group of quilts have all been made for challenges. Lots of fun and a strong learning curve.

Below are some of my larger quilts. If you can't guess I really love scrappy quilts.

Scatterdays Week 4 - Letter T

Tasty, Tiny, Terrifying and Threads

A TASTY lunch consists of tasty cheese, tuna and tomatoes on toast.

TINY Teddy biscuits, a favourite of my girls when they were much younger

TERRIFYING - Black Saturday Busfires Feb 7, 2009. These pictures were taken at around 4pm, a slight wind had change and smoke blanketed the sky. The fire was less than 10kms from us as the crow flies.

I was dreading the forecast wind change that would bring embers etc down on our property.
Later that night with the power, land line and mobile phones out we sat glued to the transistor radio.

Sitting by torch and candle light we noticed a dark shape on the floor.

A tiger snake had invited itself inside, I don't know what was more terrifying, the fire or trying to find a venomous snake by torchlight.

I am not waiting around if we are threatened by fires again.

THREADS

A very messy container of embroidery threads.

Scatterdays Week 3 - Letter Q

Is our letter this week. The categories are:A plant, Night time, Something healthy and Something quick.

A Plant: This is our poor old quince tree, only two quinces could be seen this morning. In another week or so they will both be gone. The possums love them.

Night Time just had to be a quilt, this is one of my favourite quilts on the spare bed.

Something Healthy: Quinoa, I like to use this as a change from  rice or pasta. Makes a lovely roasted vegetable salad.

Finally Something Quick, couldn't go past my trusty old Quick Unpick, where would I be without it.

Next letter is T - Tasty, Tiny, Terrifying, Threads.

Scatterdays Week 2 "R"

 This week the letter is:

and the categories are:

MAMMALS:  Rabbit - I just had to use my daughter's life long friend Peter. He has lived with Daughter 1 since she was 2 days old. He is a little battered but much loved.

TECHNOLOGY:  Remote Control -Where would my husband (and most other men) be without their Remotes, whatever did they do before they were invented??

TRANSPORT: Our trusty (rusty) red wheelbarrow, used for transporting everything from concrete to fire wood. Has often been used for carting the shopping from the car to the house.

RED FROM THE SEWING ROOM: Just a small selection of threads.

Next week the letter Q: A plant, night time, something healthy and for something quilty how about something quick.

Scatterdays - Week 1 - W

This will be my first attempt at playing Scatterdays, it was organised by Cinzia. Our first challeng was the letter 'W' and the catergories are: Expensive, Music, Exciting & WIP (work in progress).

Expensive: Bottled Water, I always hate it when I go out without my water bottle and have to buy some. Seems silly to pay for something that I have at home for free.

Music: One of my husband's favourites - Fats Waller
Exciting: Women's tennis. I find Women's tenis much more exciting than watching the men. Lovely to stay in by the air conditioner when it's been so hot, around 40C yesterday and very windy.  Took this photo from the TV.

WIP: If you believe it I have a quilt on the frame under all this fabric, I am in the middle of sorting some of my fabrics. A lot of things were just dumped in here over the Christmas holidays when we had visitors. This might motivate me to get it finished.

The next letter is 'R' mammal, technology, transport, red from your sewing room. Thinking already!
